Main Thought: At the beginning I did not like Jaxson, but once he opens up to Dante, you start to feel badly for him. The story was difficult to deal with at times because unfortunately some of these events still happen today. Overall, I really enjoyed the book.

Warning: violent hate crimes

Jaxson is the local sheriff and his father is the mayor. Jaxson it’s gay, but breaks up with his best friend/boyfriend, Kian, because he wants to come out, and Jaxson it’s too afraid. Dante moves to Brigs Ferry Bay with his brother and sister to open a B&B. When Dante tries to make a move on Kian, Jaxson becomes protective. The tension continues to increase until Dante finally takes charge and gives Jaxson what he thinks he needs. While Jaxson and Dante keep their relationship a secret, will they be enough for Dante? Will Jaxson ever decide to come out? As more hate crimes begin in the town, will Jaxson be able to protect the LGBTQIA+ community?

Main Thought: I loved the book and couldn’t put it down. I did find myself enjoying Olivia’s chapters more than Lily’s chapters though.

Olivia moved back to her childhood home after she divorced her abusive ex-husband, Braden. Lily’s mother, Ava moved them to the east coast, so that Lily can start fresh after some bad experiences at previous schools. Olivia’s son, Asher, met Lily in September at school. Asher, Maya (Asher’s childhood friend), and Lily became closer over time. Asher and Lily’s relationship continued to grow, until Asher found Lily dead. It is easy to make a case against the boyfriend for murder. How will a jury find Asher? Is Olivia missing key information about her own son? What information was Lily hiding in the past?

Lesson: If you want to escape from your life, make sure the man that saves you had an inheritance and is a famous millionaire.
Main Thought: It was slow moving for the first half of the book, then it got really good. However, towards the end there was a lot of repetition. I definitely want to read Knight’s story when it comes out. I also don’t like a woman that lies about a man forcing himself on her which could be why it took me a while to get into the book.

Solene grew up in a Mafia family and Declan saved her twice, once from a group of men and then again from an arranged marriage. Declan becomes a famous actor and promises to take her to LA and introduce her to people that can help her start a singing career. Declan wants revenge on Solene for everything that happened to him because of her choices. Once Declan gets Solene to LA and she’s living in his house, he has trouble resisting her. Both Declan and Solene value their careers and put them ahead of their relationships. Will they be able to figure out what they want before it’s too late?

Lesson: Men will not listen to you so break the rules and hope everything works out in the end.
Main Thought: I liked the overall plot, but it was very predictable. The epilogue was a surprise though. There were also parts that were very descriptive but did not move the plot along.

Christine is a forensic anthropologist for the FBI. She is investigating a serial killer with similar patterns to her work back in New Guinea. She has to investigate and prove herself as the team lead. When Bruce starts working against her, Christine has to rely on Joe, the local sheriff to help her solve the case. Will she be able to find the killer or will her past get in her way?
